BACKTAGGING absolutely!
THREADHOPPING love that kind of stuff, so go ham.
FOURTHWALLING there's some meta references in canon, so it's cool! just nothing that pulls the rug from under his feet (e.g. "hey so you're from a video game called ffxv and it was bad storytelling").
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS nothing comes to mind.
TAGGING SPEED pretty okay! picks up during weekends.
[IC]
HUGGING THIS CHARACTER completely okay!
KISSING THIS CHARACTER he dreams of the day... (he's super fucking oblivious about any signs).
FIGHTING WITH THIS CHARACTER yeah! prompto isn't too into fighting though, so he'll try avoiding it.
INJURING THIS CHARACTER oh hell yeah, but let's discuss first!
KILLING THIS CHARACTER glances
USING TELEPATHY/MIND READING ABILITIES ON THIS CHARACTER be my guest!

CHARACTER
Character Name: Prompto Argentum
Character Age: 20
Canon: Final Fantasy XV
Canon Point: Chapter 13, after getting pushed off the train and finding himself trapped and bound by the Empire
History: wikia
Personality: Despite the company he keeps, Prompto is nothing like the somber, serious guy he is meant to portray. None of this "bad boy" vibe for him. He is, afterall, the playful one in his group of friends. Loud and easily excitable and energetic, Prompto is often seen unable to stop moving where he sits. He's often seen in the Regalia (their car) sitting shotgun, but within less than a minute he's sitting up and turning around to talk, looking back, getting all up in the driver's business, fidgeting with his camera, and being generally active--whereas Noctis naps, Ignis drives quietly, and Gladiolus calmly reads a book. This, however, has nothing to do with him being the comic relief, and everything to do with the fact that Prompto is absolutely out of his depth.
See, Prompto is a commoner in comparison to the majority of the FFXV crew. He had an average childhood with average dreams and desires (becoming a professional photographer one day), and the most exciting thing to happen to him was running into an injured puppy on the side of the road on his way home from school. I'll get back to this in a bit. This being said, never in his life would Prompto have considered becoming friends with anyone related to royalty, much less the Crown Prince of Insomnia, and let's not even talk about becoming the Crown Prince's best friend. He knows so little about the way royalty goes about their business and most times doesn't even know how to react in front of someone like King Regis, Noctis' father, (other than freeze nervously in place and stuttering on whether he should bow or not), and he had never expected to have found himself in the middle of a war against the Empire as he inevitably has. This does lead to accidental comic relief behaviour, if only because Prompto's reactions to situations are more exaggerated and confused than that of his friends who are more used to these kind of circumstances. I mean, his default response to unknown situations is to hide behind his friends because most everything is new to him. He faces the novelty of things in a good way though, with a smile and cheer on the less dangerous end of the spectrum--always trying to keep things light-hearted and cheering up others--and with stubborn determination to stand tall amongst his more experienced friends.
Needless to say, underneath his amateur attempts at flirting and appearing cool (especially in front of girls he finds himself attracted to) and his overall cheerful demeanour, there are layers to Prompto beyond who he shows himself to be as in the public eye. This brings me back to how finding an injured puppy on the side of the road was one of the most exciting things to happen to him. It was this way because he actually grew up pretty sad and lonely; his parents were never home, he didn't have any friends (not because he wasn't liked, but he simply didn't know how to approach others), and every day was the monotonous same throughout. Finding this injured puppy and immediately treating its wound, soothing the scared animal, taking it home and feeding it until it regained some of its strength shows an important part of who Prompto is--a caring and selfless individual. He does what he can for others who are in need (such as immediately checking on Gladiolus and helping him up to his feet when the man got--injured, or in how when Ignis SPOILERS loses his sight he is constantly the one walking back with the other and helping him walk by keeping a slow pace and his arms at the ready were Ignis to trip). This reveals an awfully sensible side to Prompto; he'll cry easily, without shame (okay, a little embarrassment present, though), because his emotions are a part of himself that make Prompto Prompto. He finds kindness in himself to worry about others first because of how he allows himself to feel and accept his emotions as they are. Were it otherwise, we would not have the kindhearted, concerned Prompto.
His friends are the world to him. Noctis, Ignis, and Gladiolus are, after all, his only friends, and he's always afraid of losing them. Be it in battle, be it to internal turmoil, be it to them not accepting who he is. He often hides his disappointment in silence, however, same as when he's upset. Prompto does have his serious moments, even if they're not always on display. He still feels loneliness pretty close to himself, and often questions his worth to his friends, not because he doubts them but because he needs a constant validation that he is worth all the trouble, and that they just don't put up with him for the sake of doing so. In the end, Prompto will always strive to be useful to his friends, and that means he will never stop trying hard for them. He cowers when faced with danger and is unsure where his friends are confident, but he doesn't back down, no matter how much he wants to. His loyalty runs deep, and that's one of his most defining qualities; no matter where he comes from, or what he's affiliated to due to his place of origin, his strong sense of loyalty is what keeps him from ever betraying his friends--those he loves the most.
And, beyond anything else, having lived such a lonely life as a child and having not strayed from his usual routine, Prompto is in many ways very innocent and sometimes naive. He, however, has all the best of intentions at heart. From his loving fascination of chocobos and an enjoyment of videogames and technology, Prompto carries with himself a childish curiosity and attitude, making several pop culture references and singing tunes of videogames he loves. He also doesn't bother to hide his dislike towards things, such as bugs, opening himself up to a barrel of teasing--but also comes to show that he's not afraid of expressing his opinion on trivial things. As mentioned before, Prompto has many layers--from being funny, cheerful, determined, serious, and ultimately a lonely guy--and it all makes him the kindhearted person he has grown up to be, a peson who wants--more than anything else--the happiness of his friends, and often puts himself in the middle to try and make things better between each other.
Inventory: His camera and dual pistols.
Abilities: Prompto is a pretty normal character as far as Final Fantasy canon is concerned! There could have been more, but he's basically grown to be a young man of common birth with no particular set of magical abilities and skills. He does, however, receive some training from The Marshall (Cor Leonis) before he heads off with Noctis and company, so he knows the basics of self-defense, handling firearms (handguns and shotguns), and what is considered to be machinery (crossbows, bioblasters, saws, and other types of tools that can be repurposed as weapons). Despite his inexperience, he becomes more adept at handling himself in battle as the game progresses (supposedly!). In the same way, perhaps his actual skill from the very start is in his photography. He does get better at this too as the game progresses (for the sake of EXP leveling and whatnot), but Prompto has always been shooting snapshots whenever he gets the chance. Actually! Being able to take selfies while fighting fucking Ifrit must be a damn commended skill, to be honest.
Flaws: Prompto is pure in his intentions, earnest, and genuine. Despite this, he also harbours his fair share of dark thoughts. For instance, Prompto has the impression that he is not good enough for others, so he is always going out of his way to be the best he can be. Although this may not be considered a flaw in his personality, it actually is; this need to constantly be the best for others makes him extremely insecure to what the thoughts of others are on him, and sometimes it presents itself in him doubting the loyalty his friends have for him. He effectively reduces himself to someone insignificant who is undeserving of being cared for. In that same vein, Prompto is also keeping a secret from everyone he knows--the secret of his real origin--and this tends to leave him feeling like he doesn't and can't belong.
And, lastly, he's kind of vain, what with all the terrible selfies he takes of himself.

His right wrist will also be clear of any barcode tattoo (as it's been mentioned/referenced zero times in the game so far).
AU HISTORY:
• Prompto moved into the city with his parents when he was young--two years of age. He considers himself a citizen of Recollé regardless because he doesn't remember much of his childhood outside of the city in question. He doesn't quite like to introduce himself as a "foreigner," and he's already so acclimated to the culture and way-of-life in Recollé that he truly passes off as someone who's lived there their entire lives.
• An only child, he was constantly on his own. This is mostly due to the fact that soon after moving into Recollé, his parents started having relationship problems. His parents never got married, and they actually moved to the city in hopes of better work options in order to be able to sustain not just themselves but their young child, or at least this is what Prompto always believed. A sense of compromise built under these parameters led to lot of stress in the household, a lot of fighting, and a lot of avoidance of responsibilities. Prompto was given the basics--food and care and health check-ups, but these things were delivered by his parents as a form of obligation rather than not. The older he grew and the more capable he became in looking after himself, the less he saw them. His father was the first one to leave, deciding that the city was not for him. His mother, although she still lives in the city, found another boyfriend and spent more time with him than she did with Prompto.
• At the age of eight, when his father left them and his mother was playing pretend with a new man, Prompto understood his position in life: he was unwanted, unworthy, and the cause of all the pain his parents went through. From this he understood that he should keep to himself, lest he cause the same to others. He still attended school, paid by his mother out of obligation, and he made sure to use what money he was given for food wisely in McD's cheap menu.
• During his last year of elementary school, he entered a photography competition. Prompto had always been fascinated by cameras and being able to portray feelings and cause others to think through his capturing a scene through a lens. Never having the opportunity to afford a camera, however, left him in want. It was in this photography competition, however, that he managed to reach to his classmates through the pictures he took on a borrowed camera for the contest, and upon winning second place for 'outstanding shots,' he used his prize money to buy himself a cheap, secondhand camera.
• He's been taking pictures ever since. That camera he bought is his most prized possession.
• A few years later, now a middle school student, Prompto made it part of his routine to scout out any seasonal photography contests--big and small--and would always submit his photographs. For this reason, he would go about the city photographing people and things; sometimes for the fun of it, sometimes in hopes of winning some actual prizes (since he couldn't work, at this age). The place he preferred visiting the most was at the Hollingberry Field, because he would see puppies!! He loves animals but could never afford to keep one, not even in secret, so he lives vicariously through the lives of pet owners.
• One fateful day, he took a very nice picture of a girl a few years older than him walking her dogs. Shy and embarrassed, he came back the next day at the same time, and upon seeing her again, he approached her and asked if he could use the photograph of her and her dogs on a photography contest coming up. Through talking to the girl, Prompto learnt that he actually needed to look after himself better, and that his parents' neglect was no excuse for him to neglect himself.
• So, Prompto educated himself into look after himself better! No more cheap McD's menu for him--at least not every day--and he would routinely go on jogs to lose weight. The chubby little guy that was Prompto was starting to look after himself, feel better about himself, and overall start growing into his own skin.
• It was in high school when he had completely changed who he was; having grown taller now, being more fit, and slicking his hair with gel, he made an honest effort to make friends. He didn't necessarily make many, as it were, since he was still rather awkward and would easily lack confidence throughout conversations, so he mostly stuck to his studies, joining a couple of random clubs and making a few friends through them.
• At this point he spends less time in his childhood home by keeping busy with work. He would part-time at the animal shelter, and moved on from photography contests to small photography/advertisement jobs here and there for stores and businesses, hoping to have enough money to move out.
• After graduating high school, Prompto couldn't afford university, having decided to move out into his own small apartment in Viea Village with what money he had saved up. Given the circumstances, he took on several part-time jobs throughout the city to save up and pay for his rent. It was during one of his delivery jobs that he met one Noctis Caelum, since the guy ordered the same thing every single night. They became fast friends, and seeing that Prompto was constantly on the move, Noctis gifted Prompto with a scooter (player permission granted!), so that Prompto wouldn't waste too much time on public transportation and could actually save up.
• At the age of 20, two years after graduating high school and his age at the start of the game, he's saved up enough and built himself enough of a reputation with his photographs as to be awarded a scholarship to study Photography in university. Despite this, he's saving up the money from the scholarship, going to his classes, and keeping two part-time jobs.
• Currently, Prompto still volunteers at the animal shelter on weekend mornings (Fridays through Sundays), attends his classes four times a week, and part-times as a delivery boy (with his scooter toot toot), posting his services online and getting hired by private citizens and businesses alike. So, he's likely to be seen around the city delivering something or another at random times of the day. He does keep his schedule busy, but he's managed to somehow organise himself to make it work! He does like the social interaction that comes with his jobs.
• At this point he has no contact with his mother, having stopped putting a lot of effort into it during high school.
AU PERSONALITY: Basically... considering the similarity in Prompto's canon history and his AU history, his AU personality will be the same as his canon personality. The only differences will be as follow:
• Having had neither the encouragement of Lunafreya nor having met Noctis before his high school graduation, Prompto will have deservedly grown into his own skin by his own means; he'd have used his own enthusiasm and motivation to keep himself moving, rather than taking initiative because of anyone else. Because of this, he has less of a "filter," so to speak, as he'll say or do things that are some times really off the wall. However, due to his upbringing all by himself, he will also be polite to a fault, out of shyness and fearing imminent rejection. In this same regards, Prompto will also be prone to easily cracking at the seams because of self-doubt and the constant fear that he's unwanted.
• Not having his past as a Nif be a part of his day-to-day self-loathing and a constant fear of being revealed, Prompto would definitely be more forward about opening up regarding his feelings. He'd still be pretty reserved about his past--what with his family, or lack thereof--and try to wave it off as something insignificant, but he won't have such a hard time opening up to his friends about it if asked. He literally won't have a Doomsday-like feeling about his past.
