[Ardyn doesn't talk about his past very often. He had told Jack of it, when the man still possessed his memories of Retrospec. About how suffocating it was to be the child burdened with all the expectations, of how tiring it was to fend off jealous and passive aggressiveness always from his elder siblings. How exhausted it had made him, juggling academia and taking care of Fynn, because he'd not see his younger brother suffer through a family that was completely emotionally distant. How it messed with his sleep, the result still seen to this day. He said to Jack that at least it wasn't as bad as what some go through.

Jack had replied, Ya don't have to keep doing that, you know. "It wasn't that bad, it could've been worse, blah blah." Just sounds like you just dealt with a different flavor of bullshit than I did.

Ardyn rarely mentions his parents, his elder siblings. There's a reason why, often wrapped up in the simple reason of "they're not worth talking about." The actual truth is "I don't like thinking about it".
