[Honestly, Dante's in a great mood as he makes his way toward Holliberry Field. In spite of all the misfired texts from earlier in the night, it's shaped up to be pretty fun. And now he's going to go and see this new dog of Prompto's...! There's a part of him that realizes how ridiculous it is to be going over in the middle of the night just to see a dog, but Dante doesn't care. Why should he miss out on this just because of the time?
So when Prompto calls out to him and waves, Dante raises a hand to wave back, heading in his direction. Up close, it doesn't seem/i> at first glance like there's anything wrong with him, though there's certainly a faint smell of alcohol around him.]
Hey, Prompto. I told you I knew this city like the back of my hand.
[he fist bumps dante on the shoulder, not willing to try out just how accurate he can be right now. he can smell the alcohol, and he's sure that dante walking up the stairs might be a funny thing.]
[he lives pretty far, right? and it's quite late. as the responsible older guy (even if just by a year), he can't let dante zoom off, no matter that he "knows the city like the back of his hand," as he so claims]
This is Rufus.
[the pupper sniffs at dante's trousers, currently]
Wanna go up? You can chill for a minute.
my housemates declared this to be "flooferschnuuching" lmao
[As Prompto calls him a mess, Dante laughs openly--an indication of his night, regardless of whether or not the other boy picks up on it.]
No, I'm not. You should've seen the others.
[He's not a sloppy drunk, but there's no denying that his inhibitions are lowered in comparison to his day-to-day self, made all the more apparent with how he takes a knee almost immediately upon Prompto's introduction of the pup, extending his hand toward Rufus to sniff.]
Hey there, boy. How're you?
[He'll wait for Rufus to make the first move. But if it seems like Rufus is amenable to it, he'll begin giving the pup all of the pets, getting his hands under both ears and rubbing. Yeeeeeeeessssssssss, who's a good boy, Rufus? Who's a good boy?]
Sure, if you want. I don't mind either way. Which one's yours?
[rufus is quick to befriend dante, trusting that this fool who is a little off on his balance won't pose any danger. prompto but smiles and shrugs his shoulders, pointing up with his thumb at one of many windows on the building.]
It's a couple of stairs up. Sure you can manage? Don't wake up the neighbours.
[be quiet, in other words. it is pretty late!]
[prompto leads the way, opening the door and going straight for the stairs, ambling about in casual, whispered conversation with dante about his current state and "wth do you mean with the others being worse than you," until they start walking down a hallway and reach a door. it opens easily upon being pushed (does prompto lock it?), revealing his surprisingly neat apartment. laundry hangs from clotheslines across the kitchen but that's been the case for almost two days now.]
[rufus jumps immediately up on the bed, barking twice before prompto throws a toy at him to chill]
Y'want water? Sit wherever.
[there's not much space. a chair, a stool, the floor. dante's better off joining rufus to be honest.]
[PUPPER FRIEND GET. The night has been made! Dante grins, but in spite of his words he'll be... somewhat quiet going up the stairs. Being quiet doesn't mean he can't take them two at a time, right? Less stairs! He snickers at Prompto's question about the others, telling him how he left everybody else back at the camp in the woods, "most of them are asleep" and maybe a few of them up to other late-night activities, all in a whisper that's just shy of veering into quiet talking.
Inside, Dante's not quite ready to sit yet, instead meandering around to see what all Prompto has in this small apartment.]
Why does everyone keep trying to give me water? I know the drill, water and advil and sleep.
Sure, water would be good.
[ABRUPT CHANGE??? But yes, water's good. Water would certainly do well for the coating of his throat--clarifying!
But don't expect him to sit yet. He's got too much energy to sit! And this is somewhere he's never been before, so of course he's gotta take a look at what Prompto's got out and visible...
He won't touch anything, but he's certainly being a bit nosy as he looks at everything on the bookcases!]
